Mill Creek Cabin Life is a small independent magazine about cabin rentals, family wilderness escapes, hiking, and the broader art of unplugging in the woods. We write for people who already know they'd rather spend a weekend on a porch than at a resort, and who want practical, honestly-told stories that actually help them book and enjoy that weekend.
The magazine is edited by Rachel Okafor, a former travel journalist who spent most of the 2010s writing for larger publications about glossier destinations before deciding she'd had enough of buffets and infinity pools. She started Mill Creek to write about the kind of trip she actually wanted to take herself — three nights in a wooden building, somewhere with poor mobile signal and good firewood. The site is run with a small team of contributing writers, all of whom file from their own real cabin trips rather than from press junkets.
Our angle is editorial first, sponsored never. We don't take payment for coverage, we don't run paid placements dressed as articles, and we don't accept free cabin stays in exchange for reviews. The goal is to write the kind of travel writing we'd actually want to read — long enough to be useful, short enough to respect your time, and honest about what works and what doesn't.
If you'd like to suggest a story, share a cabin you love, or just say hello, the editorial inbox is always open. The kettle is on.
